Glad to hear that! Thank you all again for all your help, I really hope we enjoy Connecticut. It seems to have everything we are looking for. I secured a sizable raise to cover the cost of living difference and more. I know I read a lot of negativity in these forums about the state but I also know people talk more when they are unhappy with something. Hopefully Hartford makes a comeback at some point, but regardless the suburbs I visited were great and searches on Zillow have me very excited about my what kind of home I'll be able to afford next year when I look to buy. My job search for software engineer took only two weeks from start to finish (despite FL to CT relo). If anyone has any tips for your first weeks in CT, I'm happy to hear them. Thank you all again and these forums have been so helpful, perhaps I'll stick on here to contribute more.

Well today it sucked due to a multi car pile up, but not much you can do about that.

Right -- I think the point is that situations like that are frequent enough in that area so that having an alternative really helps. When things go haywire on 84 during rush hour, which is fairly common, that stretch of 9 is going to take a hit.

Congratulations. I just made the reverse of your move although I'll be spending summers in Connecticut. One thing to keep in mind when you start looking for a place to buy eventually is property taxes - in CT they are set by town, not by county as in Florida, and they can vary widely from town to town, and higher taxes might but don't necessarily mean better schools or amenities.
