My lady just transferred to WHC. instead of her picking me up for date night, I figure she will be having me meet her. Looking to try the Thai place next to her bank. Cheesecake factory is another waste of money.
That would be Blue Elephant Trail. It's pretty solid IMO but what's even better is Thai Palace in Bloomfield (see my earlier post).

I haven't been there in YEARS, but found Thai Palace good, but in an average kinda way. Ekkalak in Avon is supposed to be really good. Though I find most Thai in CT to be pretty homogenous. Rice Pot and Jeera in New Haven are favorites.

Park Road has lots to offer in terms of dining, nightlife and arts and IMO it's more of a hip vibe and better suited for younger people. This is also starting to happen in Elmwood: good restaurants and pubs, a new microbrewery (New Park Brewery, which BTW is awesome). Same thing with Bloomfield: in the center of town there's a ton of great spots, and a few nondescript-looking shopping plazas actually have some amazing spots. I know people generally don't regard this town as a "destination" when it comes to dining, but there's more going on here than most people realize.
There definitely are a lot of great dining options in other parts of West Hartford as well. I did not even get into them here. I know that there are also some good options in Bloomfield but I have not been to them. Just don't get to that side of Hartford a lot. The well-regard LONG-TIME Hartford restaurant family Carbone, opened the Carbone Kitchen there a number of years ago. Always wanted to try it. Also someone recommended the Republic Restaurant but again haven't been. Too many places to try and not enough time. Jay

It's not just Westport alone, whereas in the Hartford area it's pretty much just WH.
Overhyped and overpriced is in the eye of the beholder, if they don't bring quality to the table, they won't last.

Blue Lemon lasted for YEARS and was absolutely awful.

I’ll concede your point on the greater area having more to offer in the SW, but still don’t think you’re giving WH enough credit.

Anyway, I think this dead horse has had its beating.

I think both Fairfield County and greater Hartford are lacking when it comes to quality restaurants. New Haven area is far better than both.

Nah, only downtown NH is up to speed. The NH area is more chains oriented like Wood and Taps and clam shacks.

Couldn't disagree more. There are some pretty amazing restaurants in the outskirts of New Haven as well as the suburbs. When I lived out in Branford, I found myself giving a ton of five star Yelp reviews. In FFC, I often found myself disappointed.
