Hi all. I’m currently considering a move to the Glenbrook area of Stamford. I commute daily into NYC and until I receive a permit for the Glenbrook station, I would likely need to utilize the daily parking option. Does anyone have any insight into what time the daily parking typically fills up? I would likely be departing one of the morning trains around 7:30AM. Just want to know if it’s a realistic option or if I’ll need to drive down to the main station.

Thanks!

We're considering the same move - how long is the wait for a parking permit, if you don't mind my asking?

You may want to ask whatever parking authority is in charge of it.

I don’t know Glenbrook, but I do know New Canaan had a years long wait list. Put your name on now, if you can.

Yeah, always a good idea to get on the list of all the train stations you could possibly use ASAP. It doesn’t cost anything and you can always remove yourself.

Most don’t require residency. New Canaan is one of the few that does.

Mishki - We drove around yesterday and did not find a day parking area at the Glenbrook station. It's tiny, and there is one area with a sign that reads "park at your own risk," as well as two kiosks to pay for parking, but no delineated meter or day parking spaces. Springdale, one station north on the same line and about 1.5 miles from the Glenbrook station, has a bigger lot with a metered parking area, but I don't know how quickly it fills up. Hope that's helpful.

We were on the Glenbrook list for about 2 years before receiving the permit, as nonresidents in Darien.

I take the train from New Canaan and if using the Springdale station is a viable option, I would choose it over Glenbrook. The seats fill up quickly on the rush hour morning trains and there are many more seats available if you get on in Springdale. But I'm a lunatic about getting stuck in the middle seat so it may be less of an issue for others!

Not sure about Glenbrook but according to this you can get a spot at Stamford.
