We are moving to Fairfield County at the end of August (from the West Coast) and I'm looking for places that encourage non-medicated births, but have hospital options if necessary. I've heard of a birthing center in NYC that is located right next to a hospital where they have admitting privileges. That sounds great. I'd love to aim for a non-medicated birth, but might not be eligible because of advanced maternal age. Does this sort of thing exist in Connecticut?

There is the Ct Birth Center up in Danbury. It is attached to the Danbury hospital. FWIW- I had 2 non-medicated births at Stamford hospital. When they asked if I wanted the epidural I simply said no thank you. When they asked to do a cervical check I just said no thank you. When they wanted to put on the monitor I just said no thank you.

CT Childbirth Center is directly across the street from Danbury Hospital. I had my kids at Danbury (great experience, they have doulas on staff and are very supportive/non coercive) but know other moms who delivered at the birthing center and had a great experience there too

You can still deliver at a hospital and have non medicated births. I did in my 20s with both kids. When you’re checking out OBGYNs make sure you ask about their induction and c section rates. Lower is best. The office I went to had very low rates and wouldn’t induce unless a week past due. I delivered in New London, because my husband was Navy and we lived in Groton. I had no issue. If you’re BF a lactation consultant will help with getting the baby latched etc. Also your dh can stay the night with you. I’m not sure how it works in centers.

Because of your age, and I’m assuming first pregnancy, consider delivering at a hospital. Everything thing you might need to save your baby’s life, as well as your own is there.

Plenty of hospital have pools and balls to labor in. Good luck!
