Not sure of when the new line will be starting, but it seems like it should be around the time the 141 Line switched to 5:26AM

sadly, the first time the 6:31AM train was scheduled to run, it was a no-show and they had to have a bus take people to New Haven - then, the bus was a no show until after 7AM when my wife decided to take CT Rail to New Haven at 7:05 or so. No idea if the bus showed up after 7:05 or not, or if the 6:31 train people just took the 7:30 Amtrak.

Welcome to our rail system. Sadly, I am not shocked.

The last few times, the 6:30 train has been on time at least.

But, it's still a long commute - drive from Avon to the Hartford train station is 20-25 minutes with no traffic, then train to New Haven, then train to Stamford, then shuttle to the office. Door to door is almost 3 hours each way. At least she can rest in the morning and then do some work on the way home.

That is an insane commute. Is it really worth it? It must be affecting her health. Either move and do it quickly or have her find a job closer to home. Jay

That is awful. It wasn't much shorter the 3 years I commuted to the Bronx, from Milford. Door to door averaged 5-5.5 hours a day. I cannot imagine doing it long-term ever again. It is exhausting.

Are either of your careers or family situations dependent on this region? Were you both working close to where you live now, at one time? Does metro Springfield, Ma provide you with better options?

How long do you think she can handle that? I assume, she is home about 8 p.m. five nights a week.
