We plan to leave tomorrow to go to CT through tuesday to check out towns. I am reading about the tropical storm that is supposed to hit you guys, so should we come next week instead? supposed to be pretty windy? We have to be out and about looking at areas and towns and we haven't ever lived through a TS or hurricane so have no idea what to expect?

Are you all ready for it??

If you're staying at a hotel inland, it shouldn't be a problem. We're supposed to get a lot of rain, so the main concern is poor drainage areas, low-lying properties near lakes, streams, rivers, etc, and ground softening which can cause trees to fall.

Grocery stores were PACKED this afternoon - it's probably the same shoppers that are frantic before a 2-4" snowfall.

IMO I don't think it'll be that bad - but I'm not a meteorologist.

If you can come next week instead - do so. Not so much because its a TS, but because you will be getting rained on and it will be hard to see what towns are like if everyone is hanging out at home or indoors.

I'm looking forward to the storm. I think people/press go a little overboard for this stuff (this isn't a Cat4/Cat5 hurricane). I wouldn't worry too much about it if you are here - but if you can push off a week - you'll be better off for it.

I'm not concerned about the storm either, it's just heavy rain and showers with some gusty winds. This morning and early afternoon it's actually supposed to be pretty calm, with the heavy rain coming much later today.

I need a few things at the grocery store, and I forgot how people freak out over storms. The stores are usually crowded on Saturdays anyway, but I bet today it will be insane. Hmmm, I had better get there ASAP before people wake up.

Good Lord...it's just going to be a glorified Summer thunderstorm.

Lots of rain and a little windy.

These things move fast, it'll be gone by Sunday afternoon.

Just came from Old Greenwich where Sound Beach Rd (downtown area) is flooded - looks like it might be over a one or two feet of water. A few accidents on 95 too probably due to hydroplaning. Winds aren't too bad but the rain is torrential. It's nasty out there.

Good night to hunker down for the night and watch a movie. That's what we're gonna do. Stay safe folks.

It is hard to get an idea of how pretty a place is when it rains a lot. It happened to me last year when I was checking Glastonbury out: I did not like it. On the other hand, it rains a lot in CT, so coming on this weekend may not be a bad idea...

Nice how it is all relative. Having lived for 12 years on South Florida it is so bizarre that people would bother to stock up food for TS Hanna here... On the other hand, as soon as the temperatures hit the mid 40's in the Florida winter, the paper in Fort Lauderdale would warn people of how to avoid frost bite.....

It was really mild here, just some rain, no wind whatsoever. I've seen Nor'easters pack more punch.

Same here. There was a brief period between 6-9pm when the rain was coming down hard (~2" per hour), enough to flood roads pretty substantially, at least in Greenwich/Stamford. 95 was a parking lot for about an hour in Norwalk because people just couldn't see - so everyone threw on their hazards and stopped until the rain eased up a bit. Good call on the part of the drivers - not many times have I said that!

The flash floods receded quickly after the rain stopped though.
