I smash my computer.

I just moved here, and everything I've seen so far I really dig. I think I'm gonna like it here.

But I'm baffled by the transit system.

I'm in terryville. I have rides to Waterbury, Bristol, Hartford and possibly New Britain every morning, family members, neighbors, etc.

What's the best way to get to New Haven?

I know someone is just going to direct me to the cttransit site, but I'm on there and I'm still confused.

To compound things, I looked up Union Station, Hartford Ct on google and got three different addresses: one on union, one on asylum, and one on main.

I'm getting really frustrated, as my calls have either been met with DMV style helpfulness, os endless ringing.

Thanks guys, this place is a wealth of info, thanks to everyone on it.

chris

Hi Chris - Welcome to Connecticut. The problem is that Terryville is a pretty small town that is pretty far removed from New Haven (about 35 miles away), so most likely you will have to take a bus to a major city (Waterbury would be closest) and then another bus to New Haven. If you want to travel to New Haven, I would not go to Hartford. It is sort of out of your way. Plus the train service to New Haven is limited and expensive because it is Amtrak. I am not sure why Union Station is listed as being on Main Street (it is no where near Main) but it is located on both Union Place and Ayslum. I hope this helps. Jay

Thanks Jay.

I saw the prices for amtrak, and yeah, they're ridiculous.

And I can't find any buses out of terryville. Closest is Bristol.

I have rides to Waterbury and Hartford, I saw on the dattco site they have a bus out of hartford for much cheaper, what comes out of waterbury?

Also, are there a decent amount of taxis in New Haven?

Thanks again bud.

It looks like you'd ride the J4 line from Waterbury to New Haven, but I don't have any personal experience with that route.

There tend to be a decent amount of taxis that congregate at the New Haven train station. I have also never had a problem calling a taxi company and having a taxi show up, although my experience there is far from extensive.

J4 from Waterbury your best bet. Looks like you could also take the 23 express bus from Bristol to Hartford, then the 20 express bus to New Haven. These would be long but comfortable rides. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Terryville has any public transit.
