We are coming for graduation in spring and need nearby hotel recommendations. This will be our first CT visit. Thanks in advance for any help!

Depending on your budget and how far you are willing to drive from SHU campus to the hotel, the Holiday Inn Downtown Bridgeport may be another choice. The Trumbull Marriott is quite nice. The Best Western Inn Black Rock has very small rooms-- I've stayed there. It just offers the basics. The Westport Inn on Route 1 in Westport is also very nice and about 15-20 minutes form campus.

Most people find the easiest/widest/newest/most reasonable selection to be in Shelton. All hotels are on Bridgeport Avenue or just off of it, and access is very easy to SHU.

Thanks for the replies! That's the kind of info I was hoping for. Really looking forward to our visit. We're from the dry West and our son has told us how beautiful the Merritt Parkway is.

I second Shelton. Lots of hotels and restaurants. Most also have a special rate for SHU families. The Holiday Inn Express is pretty reasonable, as is the Homewood Suites. Both are not far off the Merritt, maybe 10-15 minutes to SHU.

While I know you have to book early to ensure a vacancy, I would check with SHU to see which hotels will offer a group rate for families of graduates.

I know the Holiday Inn in Shelton has group rates for all the local corporations/universities in the area.
