i'm interested in the University of Connecticut in Storrs and i would like to know either what Connecticut is like or Storrs if anyone lives there or has been there. any info on what the weather/people/area is like would be appreciated. thanks

It depends on what part of CT. For a very small state, each corner is very different as are its people. Southwestern CT is part of the NYC metro area, northwestern CT is the artsy Litchfield hills, much of south-central CT is suburban in nature and home to Yale, north-central CT is the Hartford area (which is pretty corporate), southeastern CT is more middle class and affordable with a strong military presence, and northeastern CT (where you're looking) is the most sparsely populated region in the state with a cheaper cost of living. UConn Storrs however is like an island of its own.

CT has four distinct seasons which ranges from hot and humid in the summer to snow in the winter.

So there's your answer in a nutshell.

Storrs is in the eastern part of the state, you will get snow and cold in the winter and heat and humidity in the summer. Much like the rest of New England.

Storrs itself is a pretty boring town in a very rural area, it's not really close to any large exciting cities. Closest mall is in Manchester which is about 25-30 min away.

People in Storrs at UCONN are probably the same as the kids at any college.

uconn is fantastic. u will never meet anyone that went there that didnt luv it. if u got in from out of state way to go. harder to get in there out of state than yale. weather is cold and snowy in winter. what u should expect from this area. spring and fall are sweet.

As others noted, the biggest difference would be the weather and that winter can be rough. But also note that we do have very beautiful fall and spring as well. The landscape in Connecticut is rolling hills covered with a lot of trees. in the fall the trees turn color and offer a wonder array of foliage that can be stunning. In the spring the trees turn green and then generally remain that way until the next fall. People travel from all over the world to see it.

As for UConn, it is a large school that is located in a small rural town about 40 minutes from Hartford. While people from some parts of the country do not think that is far, locals think it is (this is a New England thing). Because it is such a large school, there are many activities on campus so traveling off campus is not really necessary very often. I would suggest you visit the state to get a feel for it and see if it is to your liking. Jay

There is no train service and buses are not frequent so you will basically be stuck on campus. There is a nice gym and there are cultural events on weekends, but students often get bored which leads to on campus or barely off campus parties. If you are looking for a solid school in a nice, rural town then you are looking in the right place.

have u been to uconn? there is a ton of stuff for students. tons. no one is bored there. oh and students dont party cuz they r bored. they party cuz its fun. hello.
