What about looking for a commuter lot where you park and then take a shuttle? I don't know if they even have those where you are looking but I know they exist.

Or looking into a carpool/vanpool where your husband can park and then ride over to the station.
Living within walking distance is an option as mentioned but that would really suck in bad weather even if it was just a 10 or 15 minute walk.

Default Parking for Metro-North

As others have pointed out, parking is still a serious issue in Fairfield Cty. even with 300 new rail cars arriving, nothing has been done to expand parking.

Last year I served on a CDOT Task Force looking at the problem. See:
"Talking Transportation": Some Progress on Rail Station Parking

As someone who moved to CT from Brooklyn (Park Slope) almost 20 years ago, my best advice is:

1) get on the waiting list now for any town you might want to move to.
2) chose a home close to the station
3) consider a bike as your commuting tool to the station.

If I can be of any other help, contact me directly: trains@camcomm.com
