Camcorder? mid-80's? It was just a camera, it had to be connected it to our VCR (the VCR was in two pieces, one piece could be split and be made portable for the camera).

Cassette player? no clue - had always remembered them laying around. Either the cheap portable ones, or the nice ones with the Pioneer system my parents had.

CD player? mid-80s.... part of a boom box actually.

MP3/digital audio player? We were playing them on the computer in the early-mid 90s. But the first actual portable player was a iPod nano that I won at a golf tournament.

VCR? early 80s

LaserDisc player? early 80's.... I recall two formats. The one's in the early 80's came in a case/cartridge - you fed the entire cartridge into the machine. I think my parents had like two movies/concernts with that. It came back again in the early 90's... and those looked like LP sized CD/DVDs.... mom got it specifically for Karaoke.

DVD player? Early 90's? The laserdisc player actually played DVDs. Not sure if that was the first....

DVR? Never actually had one.

Blu-Ray? When I got a PS3.... 2006?

GPS? 1999 - in my 2000 Acura TL

Shortwave radio? never had one

Police Scanner? never had one

Cell phone? mid 90s. A sprint PCS.... Sanyo I believe. Bigger than my current cordless at home.

High definition TV? ~2000... sony rear projection TV. Could support 1080i via component.... althought I don't think it was ever connected.

Strobe light? never had one

CAMCORDER: My parents bought one in the mid 90s. It was a hand held Sony with the mini cassette that required an adapter to play in a VCR.

CASSETTE PLAYER: Other than in cars, I remember having one when I was a kid (late 80s early 90's) to listen to bed time stories/ music. My parents also had an all in one stereo with a record player, cassette player/ recorder, 8-track, AM/FM.

CD PLAYER: Late 90s maybe. We bought my mom a Sony stereo with CD and cassette. I got a boom box a few years later with one, and a Sony portable CD player

MPC/DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYER: I don't think any one in my family has one other than a few songs/ videos on their cell phones

VCR? First VCR was in the late 80s

LaserDisc player?

DVD PLAYER: around 2000 I think

DVR: with in the past 5 years

Blu-Ray? not yet

GPS? with in the past 5 years

Shortwave radio? nope

Police Scanner? my grand parents got one in the mid 90s

Cell phone? My dad got one around 2000, back when Nex-tel two way phones were big. Then when I started really driving and working later hours my mother and I got some bone basic Alltell phones.

High definition TV? with in the past 5 years, a Mitsubishi projection T.V., I think like 57''-60"

Strobe light? no?
