I have bought two CRT tvs off craigslist in the past - both lasted many years and were very cheap.
Today I plan to go look at a used Panasonic LCD TV. Model is apprx 2 years old.
Aside from powering it on and making sure all the inputs work and the screen looks good, are there any other things I should check?
I know its a risk to buy- as it could stop working tomorrow and I would have no warranty... I guess I just want to increase the odds that that won't happen.

I wouldn't do it, if only because with the sale prices on between now and Christmas you are likely to find a new one, possibly larger, for the same or less. Today for example, the local paper had two full-page ads and one two full pages of TVs on sale, for example 50" LG for $499, Sony 40" for $348, 32: $199, Panasonic 40" $299. I would also wonder why someone would be selling their 2 year old LCD TV.
Thanks for the opinions... I ended up getting it. It is a beauty. 47" Average price on amazon over past two years was $770. I paid $240 including delivery. I had $100 cash that I got for my birthday, so only $140 out of my own pocket. Seller was college kid who is moving back home this week and selling all his stuff.
I feel good about the purchase even if it craps out sooner than I would like.
