Hi,

My dad had purchased a new 1 Tb Western Digital external hard drive with USB 3.0. It says on the box that it's compatible with USB 2.0. So he can not connect it directly to the TV.

His old 1 Tb Western Digital external hard drive with USB 2.0 had no problems connecting directly to his Panasonic TV that is rated to accept USB 1.0 and USB 2.0.

Anyone knows what's going on ?

Thank you.

It should be backwards compatible.

Might be the formatting, assuming a Windows machine connect to the PC. Right click the drive and select properties, on the general tab note what the file system is. Make sure it's compatible with the TV.

Edit--------

Jut to add you can do the same thing with the old drive to see if they are the same.

Look how the old drive was formatted (Fat32, NTFS). Also TV may have a limitation on size of what can be connected to it.

Did you format the drive?
