Feb 2009 are you ready- The analogue tv signal will be discontinued by federal law and you will have to get a converter box to watch yout tv. The analogue tuner on you tv or vcr will not work any more as of feb 9, 2009. Also by law april 07 all tv/vcr/dvd recorders must come with a digital tuner, not analogue. Actually vcr are obsolute are replaced by dvd recorders or your cable box with a dvd recording cability(hard drive). see thes sites.

DIGITAL TELEVISION (DTV) Tomorrow's TV Today! — FAQs - Consumer Corner
ALL-DIGITAL TELEVISION IS COMING (AND SOONER THAN YOU THINK!)

If you are a cable subscriber or you have a tv or vcr with a digital or quam tuner you will be okay to get unscrambled digital signals or scrambled digital signals with a box. Again I dont know what cable companies will do who give you a family package(like cablevision) who are not requiring a box right now where your coax cable wire goes right to your tv without box and not scrambled. From what I read tv stations will not allow the cable companies to convert digital to analogue.

Canada is usually about 8 years behind the states on technology so you probably have lots of time.

I am not buying a new TV at all. We have 5 TV sets- 3 of them are on satellite now and the other 2 I will buy converters for. I suspect there will be come DTV/ HDTV deals next year as the date approaches- especially since they set the date the week of the Superbowl!

Don't own a tv so not an issue here. Not much on when I had one anyway.

Besides your all so very entertaining, this is more like interactive tv.
