Not too long ago, I purchased a Jensen portable CD player. Smooth performance, until it suddenly started 'skipping' a CD. I took out the CD and did the usual cleaning with a soft cloth. Okay, even going past any
pre-dusty parts, and then 'skipping' and making weird sounds. I tried it with fresh CD's with the same results.

I went through the brochure for help with this issue. What should I do for a CD lens cleaner disc?
Any recommendations on where to get one that's available offline, and reasonably priced?

Thanks for feedback on this subject.

You must have mistreated it. All Jensens are extremely reliable.

Could be your CD, error correction, laser alignment, or a dirty or scratched lens. These are cheeply made and not meant to be repaired. Throw it away and bu a new one like you are supposed to. I can guarantee you Jensens need money.

FYI there really isn’t any “Jensen” anymore. Around 15 years ago the name was bought by Audiovox and more recently sold to Namsung (correct, not Samsung)

my old Audiovox CD player has lasted at least since 2004...the lid just broke off after a fall in the laundromat. no sense in using a CD player with exposed laser beams. : (

after treating this new CD player with the greatest of care from the get-go--i'm a pragmatic person--i've decided to look for another CD player. Any quality brands of CD players recommended from personal experience?

I don’t think any brand is better than another anymore, I would look at individual players.

good point, markjames68.

i looked at reviews of the Jensen model i had, and found strikingly similar experiences, as well as positive reviews. so the percentage of both--and even then, possible new experiences either way--may help.

maybe better know brands with a reputation like Sony, Panasonic, etc. are more likely to have consistent reviews. aside from this resource (sometimes good reviews have some paid compensation included), i appreciate direct feedback from CD player users here in their own
experiences with a brand.
