There's a video floating around of this bear bandit running, at high speed, at North Maple and Freeze....practically downtown.

There's been another bear spotting just outside of town. Mayor Shelton posted a picture of a little black bear wandering around Buck Mountain on Mountain Top Lane this morning.

TWRA is reporting an increase in bears in the area over the last few years.

Researching Cookeville online, i found vague, duplicate info. This message board, has hit the nail on the head. New businesses, restaurants, the downtown area...you work as a unit, kinda cool. My wife has a question, why does it seem like the homes for sale are mostly new builds or have zero personality. Every once in a while, we'll see an older home for sale and its quickly gone. Visiting in late June...

To at least partially answer your question, there is a ton of new construction happening. The problem is that a significant portion of it is relatively expensive. What isn't available is existing homes in the 200k-ish price range. Real estate agents have been begging for homes to sell in that price range and hardly anybody is selling. When those houses pop up, they are gone very quickly.

Maybe you should move this post to a separate thread. That way it can be the 1st post and can be updated with any changes. It is a good resource for the radio stations in Cookeville.

I believe that makes 18 radio stations in Cookeville, a couple of which are repeaters of Nashville stations (89.9 and 91.7):

88.5 WTTU - college alternative
89.1 WOCG - 3ABN (religious)
89.9 WRIM - Risen (Catholic)
90.5 WAYW - Christian contemporary
90.9 WWOG - King of Kings radio (religious)
91.7 WHRS - NPR news/talk
93.3 W265BC - classic hip-hop
93.7 WBXE - classic rock
94.1/1600AM WUCT - conservative news/talk
94.7 WGSQ - country
95.9 WLQK - adult contemporary
96.9 WUCH - classic country
97.5 WJNU - Christian talk
98.5 WKSW - top 40
104.7 W282AG - sports
106.1/780AM WPTN - classic hits
106.9 WKXD - country
107.7/1400AM WHUB - conservative news/talk
Mod note: Thanks for the suggestion! We're not supposed to have more than 2 stickies in each forum, so I placed it in this sticky. Please feel free to make updates as they arise.

It is. Here's a video that some friends of mine took during their first trip to Cummins Falls. They're from Arizona and made a reconnaissance visit to Tennessee last summer to see if this is where they wanted to live. They flew into Nashville (cheaper flights) then drove to Knoxville. On the way back to Nashville someone suggested they check out Cookeville and some of the waterfalls in the area. Now they live in Cookeville.

yeah I wanted Knoxville too but more and more I'm leaning towards Cookeville. It seems to have the family values I'm looking for. Really glad I found this forum.
