Hi

Could someone from Cookeville be able to answer this question: Is there an area or place in or around Cookeville where the older folks, retirees mostly, tend to live? Are there any retirement communities not necessarily55+ but heavily retirement age in the general area?

Thanks

I am a single retiree and will be actively looking into towns and areas so I can find a rental until or unless I find the retiree home I need. It would be nice to be semi located around people who are in age and experience.

There aren't any retirement communities in the area although Cumberland Cove just outside of Monterey would be the closest thing to a retirement community. In Cookeville I've found that a lot of retirees enjoy living in condos. I have some retired friends in condos in Cookeville, and almost all of their neighbors are also retirees. Check out the condo community on South Walnut, I think it's called Saint James Place, as well as the condos at Golden Eagle Golf Club, I think it's called The Fairways. There's a brand new condo development just outside of town off of Quinland Lake Road, I think it's called Cypress Ridge. I know a few retirees who live there, and more condos are being built there. There's a smaller condo development in Capshaw Woods that's my favorite, and it's also almost exclusively retirees from what I understand. Sugartree Courtyard is another condo development in town that's popular with retirees.

I imagine there are a lot of retirees in the Downton Square condos, too.

Here are previous listings of some of these condos so you can get an idea what they're like and where they're located:

Definitely a lot of old geezers in Downton Square , an HOA townhome community off of Spring St. It is brand new so does not show up on maps. We are just west of Strouds BBQ.

Thank you. Made a quick trip to Cookeville and ran by these recommended places. Liked what I saw.

My house is on the market in FL and I have bunking in with children temporarily. Will make a realtor accompanied trip in Cookeville after the holidays.

hoping things work out so I can make a move soon.

thanks again for the help all

Back again. Just received an offer on my house, if it goes through I will be looking in TN for a condo or low maintenance home near other retirees. Would like to be in a college town.

This info you have given me is a good start so I will soon start looking. Don't want to jinx the current offer... by starting too soon.

If anyone has any new input, please add it in thanks.

I've never been inside them, but they look nice on the outside, and you can't beat the location right in the middle of town, especially if you want to live where you can walk to the grocery store (Kroger), the dry cleaners (literally right across the street), the bank, and some restaurants.

Good luck selling your house! I hope it goes your way.

OldNorthState We looked at the townhouses on Stout St. but did not like the floor plan and thought the HOA fee was high for what you got. Going to PM you a realtor recommendation.
