Peace be on you. Canada, Vancouver, has a new mosque built by Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. On 17 May 2013, The Baitur Rahman Mosque was inaugurated with a Friday Sermon by Visiting Head of the Community -- Hazrat Khalifa tul Messiah V. It was worldwide live broadcast of MTAi (Muslim Television Ahmadiyya International , mta.tv) through satellite. More than 3000 Ahmadiyya Muslims were present who came from across Canada, USA and other countries.
Quotes from Press Release
Quote:
Speaking about the significance of the new Mosque, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“With the Grace of Allah the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat is today opening a new Mosque in the Canadian Province of British Columbia. A Mosque has a special effect both on Muslims and non-Muslims alike. When a Mosque is built, new avenues of spreading the message of Islam are created and this is why the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat continually reminded his followers about the importance of constructing Mosques.”
The Khalifah asked his Community:
Quote:
“Prove to those who come to visit this Mosque that every single act of an Ahmadi Muslim is conducted with the intention of benefitting and helping others. It is due to the teachings of Islam and the Quran that we think only of benefitting others, rather than favouring ourselves. Indeed, we do not just think of helping others but through our acts we work towards this aim. God Willing, with the opening of this Mosque people will witness for themselves this reality.”
Background article on the history of the Ahmadiyya Muslims and their development. I recognized the name as I recall that they are routinely discriminated against and persecuted in Pakistan. They seem to draw the ire of fundamentalists in several Muslim countries.
It started its life as an imperial Byzantine church, although the neighboring Blue Mosque and a few others in Istanbul seem rather like it. Perhaps it became a model for some Turkish architects.
Would much rather employ Muslims promoting peace than a staff member of a fundamentalist church, Focus on the Family, or a strip club.
Congrats to Vancouver!
I would rather a world that employs people who aren't under the cultlike trace of organized religion, regardless of the title, it's all a sham. But let enough time pass and I bet you'll see the nutjobs in scientology be treated as a legitimate organization.
The opportunity to worship God according to the dictates of our consciences is truly a blessing. May God bless them in their walk.
