Why are we even having this conversation? It's Florida! Florida is not a safe place to live. Crazed Floridians high off of bath salts will eat your face, tourists are killed, toddlers are killed, teens wearing hoodies are killed....heck, if I want to kill someone in cold blood, I'll just kill them in Florida cause I know I will get off. Someone giving you trouble? Invite them to Disney World, all expenses paid and kill them. Go on trial and be found not guilty.
Please avoid all the racial comments, the story could have been black or white and it could have been in any state, but is there something wrong in this country?
Oh, get real! As if this isn't a racial story! If the innocent victim had been White, probably no shots would have been fired. In fact, the neighbor may not have reported him in the first place. Why would someone call the cops on their own neighbor, anyway?
If they told him to freeze and he reached down quickly into his car and "claims" he was just reaching for a cigarette....
Ordering someone to "freeze" and their not reacting to that is not a justification to shoot that person. What if the person was deaf?
Is this what our society is coming to, getting shot because you didn't stop moving? Since when did that become ok? Say you are the police officer. You tell someone to "freeze" or better yet "stop moving". The first thing you do is get behind cover, not stand out in the open, you know, just in case. Then, if the person doesn't obey, you deal with that, but not by shooting them.
You need to see a firearm. Even if the person grabbed a knife it doesn't justify shooting them unless they were close enough to be a danger to others. You escalate the use of force until it becomes lethal, not start out that way unless there is an immediate danger to you or others.
Florida is really have the most ridiculous stories as of late. Trayvon Martin, The lady killed and posted on Facebook, The school bus incident, Casey Anthony goes free. What is really going on in the state of Florida.
