I have a friend that posts literally every hour of every day, and it is freaking annoying. Considering I have 250 plus friends, this clogs up my feed of people I am actually interested in hearing from. What did I do? I simply "unfollowed" her, so I only have to read posts from people I actually like. Problem solved.
I don't look at the inane crap people put out and I know lots of drama queens. Unfriend the annoying ones and tell them why if they ask. They have their sycophants so they won't miss you.
Hover your mouse over the status, and click on the down arrow that appears in the upper right corner. You can opt not to see their status in your news feed anymore. I would also disable getting emails/notifications like that...it's very annoying.
I block statuses from my news feed quite often. Who really wants to know what you are doing or thinking 5 times a day...
This is exactly what I do when people let me know they're...feeding a baby, flossing their teeth, going to the mailbox, posting the contents of the mailbox.
I use facebook less than once a month now for those same reasons. I'm tired of very bored people sharing their boredom with me...it's worse than home movies!
One of my co-workers loves to take photos with her phone, and she posts constantly. I should say she has others take photos of her with her phone-most of the pictures have her in them.
I used to comment on some of these just to be polite. I use my FB at the moment to post other stuff, like antibullying or freelance writing sites. When I do something worthwhile I'll post it.
A few months ago I deleted my Facebook account. I have never looked back and don't miss it for one second.
If you stay on it because "that is how I keep in touch with people" - well, let me tell you, there is still plenty of communication (from both sides) with the people that "matter" if you delete that account. Now when I see or talk to friends, I am not filling in the conversation details with what I already know from Facebook.
That and the endless lame memes and images they constantly rehash.
