You know, I almost decided not to read this thread because I figured there would be a lot of stupid comments like this, which are totally out of place when so many kids have just been seriously injured.

I think I'll stop right here.

Any word yet on motivation? The only thing I've heard is that the kid didn't raise any red flags concerning mental health.

You can blame the teacher's unions for lack of protection.

Yes, yes, we know. The whole incident is Obama's fault, and that of the unions that protect the livelihoods of teachers.

How many deaths would we have on our hands if this kid had brought a bushmaster XM-15 to school instead of a knife? Thank God for whatever it was that kept a gun out of this lunatic's hands!

Since he has a lawyer, no one will ever find out why he did it. Did he have a friend?

I'm not saying people shouldn't have run -- but I also find it 'interesting' that one person stabbed 20 people before being taken down.
No one had a book bag to try to hit him with?, or use to protect themselves as they tried to disarm him?
Don't most kids carry some kind of backpack these days?
20 victims is a lot of people in a stabbing.

If nothing else throw books or chairs or whatever.
Once one or two people go to take him down, that increases the chance others might help out, and NOT run.

I want to shout a big thank you to the young lady who put herself in the line of harm and applied pressure to a young mans wounds which ultimately might have saved his life . When the dr was asked if she saved a life he said "well that is yet to be determined " can someone say God complex ... Thank God for the trooper who did stand up and say that she was definitely a hero in his view ... Turns out she is a drs daughter I do believe ...Anyways something good came out of this tragedy .

That is right, teacher's unions protect the livelihood of teachers. They take up the issues of pay and dismissal of teachers, but they say or do nothing about the teacher's working conditions. Everyday thousands of "children" threaten teacher's lives and well being, and the teacher's unions do absolutely nothing about the problem.
