The family of the woman was interviewed on the news with their lawyer.
Apparently the women has a history of issues and is being held for observation.
She has multiple bruises and swelling on arms and one shoulder.
The story is she was walking on the Freeway and the officer said something which made her turn around and head for traffic.
This is all I could glean for now.
That's the problem. An officer never knows what he's dealing with up front. There a a host of reasons why a suspect could be acting in some manner different then what an officer requires. A co-worker of mine was driving home after work and was having a stroke. An officer stopped him and accused him of being drunk after slight weaving on the road. He took him to a local hospital for a blood test. Even after being cleared by the test, the officer arrested him despite the fact that a fellow officer said he might be suffering a medical problem. He served the night in jail instead of a hospital bed. My co-worker never recovered and died about six months later. I don't know if the family ever took action against the arresting officer or not.
It is, to some degree, unfair. But being a law enforcement officer is not for anyone and is definitely not an ordinary job. It's extremely human interactive. If I make a mistake in my job it's unlikely to be life-changing event for someone else. For an officer it can be. It's not an easy job by any means and requires a great deal of mental stability. No matter how you slice it, the officer in question obviously lost his cool. You can't go around beating people up just because your having a bad day.
No it's not for everyone, the problem is when incidents like this occur the LEO gets a pass. Why? Because it's always an "internal" investigation.
An outside agency should conduct the investigation, it's absolutely ridiculous to investigate yourself.
When other people in other lines of work do something wrong even if it is a mistake, there are ramifications. Sure doesn't seem that way with law enforcement, they're never wrong.
I worked for a company where a coworker made a financial error mistake that cost the company several thousand dollars, he was terminated. Here's a situation where no one died or left with serious injuries, yet you lose your job for carelessness.
This officer is now on leave(a paid vacation) and more than likely will be back on the job.
Just like the trigger happy cops who shot and killed a 30 yr old innocent man in West Hollywood a few months back, thinking he was the kidnapper who was holding two men hostage. The cops shot one of the hostages, even though he had his hands up and was clearly unarmed.
What happened? The two officers were placed on paid leave for a week, and back on the job.
It's similar to officers that beat a guy after a car chase that knocked out the speeder from the car wreck, 5 officers jumped on the limp body already face down on the ground and started to beat him (his body was thrown out of the window). I guess you would see that as justified?
You expect me to make a judgment based on your one-sentence description of a situation I know nothing else about?

Oh yes. When you can't come up with a substantive argument, insult the guy's penis.
I hope none of you are lawyers or judges. Unfortunately, some of you will end up on juries where you'll be quick to make a decision based on nothing other than your prejudice and suspicion of police officers. Shameful.
There will be an “investigation”, then he will be found to have acted properly.
The woman will be charged with resisting arrest for trying to protect herself from that vicious attack. He ‘ll be back at work within a week. Her life is ruined. And the world will keep getting worse.
I'm sure she "deserved it" in the eyes of most CD posters. We all know if she'd been of a different demographic there'd be some sort of outrage & sense of entitlement going on. We all know blonde hair blue eyed Sally can do no wrong.
Life goes on and continues. "innocent until proven guilty," remember that?
Anyway, there are more important injustices in the world.
They have had terrorist training from DHS. What to you expect when they have been trained to suspect the "terrorist" in us at first glance ?
Really? 25 yrs as a police officer (almost 26). Never trained with DHS in my life and never will. Where do you get your BS information from? The internet?
Well, another typical law enforcement officer in California. More dangerous than the Bloods and Crips put together.
I have to agree with this. If I were asked what gang in America poses the biggest threat to an ordinary citizen, minding their own business, my response would be the police.
