... except when its done of a faulty light post and you get electrocuted.

Teenage reveller dies after being electrocuted while URINATING on lamp-post during festival

Although full details of the fatal incident have not been revealed, it is possible the stream of urine would have served as a conductor allowing the electricity from the faulty lamp-post to reach the victim's body.

There is also salt and other chemicals in it that aid in the process. 480v 3-phase doesn't need anything to get ya. It will crawl the walls and floor to finish you.

240v and 120v needs more.

I've been shocked by 120v more times than you can imagine. I've been hit and blown off 240v exactly 5 times during my career. 120v sorta tickles now, but I don't have a pacemaker or a bad heart.

240v is much more dangerous. I've already wrecked one set of Craftsman diagonal pliers with it.

A friend was just telling me about how it is something of an initiation or dare to take a leak against a lightly charged electrical fence. It came up after we passed by a small fence made of yarn or chicken wire that was hooked up to a car battery in Nordkette Mountain, Austria. I guess the current travels up the stream and gives you a buzz.

Terrible story, but I'll be thinking about this a lot more when I'm out during a late drunken night...

At least people will remember him by the way he died.

I worked for a carnival running rides several years ago. Once we were dismantling the show to go to the next city during a huge rain storm, and I was uncoupling my ride's power cables from the generator (a big diesel on in a semi trailer). I was behind schedule, and in a hurry so I didn't pay attention and the boot slipped off the end of it as I was uncoupling it. Luckily I was right inside the door, or else I probably would have been put through the trailer wall. I don't remember the shock, I do remember waking up on the ground in pain with people standing around me going "whoa.." "holy s----" etc. It's funny now, but it kinda sucked at the time.

I'm surprised you're not dead. It doesn't take much to stop a heart. I would start looking into shutting off breakers and using lock outs.

"The rest of the fiesta celebrations were abandoned following the teenager's death."

Well, that seems a little extreme.
