If you actually read the article then you'd know this isn't conclusive in any way, the author of the study says as much.
The OP is clearly reading what he wants to believe, yet the study seems not to be based on actual crime statistics of law abiding citizens who CCW, OTC, CCP, etc.
You actually don't need to read very far until you happen upon this sentence;
"The totality of the evidence based on educated judgments about the best statistical models suggests that right-to-carry laws are associated with substantially higher rates" of aggravated assault, rape, robbery and murder, said Donohue.
Virtually every study I've read in the last 20 years or so indicates that law abiding citizens use firearms responsibly. That combined with violent crime being much lower in the last few decades means this so called study is not worth the paper it was printed on.
My point exactly. There are my factors that influence crime.
The "empirical study" you are defending clearly states in the first sentence.....New Stanford research confirms that right-to-carry gun laws are linked to an increase in violent crime.......
Violent crime is decreasing and that's the part you seem to miss. "Other factors" don't matter when the premise is based on a false assertion.

I think the only thing that matters is if homicides by concealed carry holders went up or has become a problem (which it hasn't, and never has been a problem). People have the right to defend themselves, it isn't reliant on producing any particular result (like to lower overall crime), although it is nice when it appears to do just that.
There is tons of empirical evidence that having lots of concealed carry holders results in a drop off of violent crime. That also makes the most logical sense, criminals don't like getting shot. It's a much more immediate and impactful consequence then the possibility of being charged for breaking a couple laws.
Something to point out is anyone can conceal carry. Are you legal and/or what is you intent? Are you out to commit a crime while wielding your firearm?
A thug can buy a cool shoulder holster or tuck it into his pocket to conceal just like anyone else.
when will you people learn.... look at how great and safe Chicago is since its IMPOSSIBLE to get a legal handgun... Chicago should be the model society.... NO LEGAL GUNS = NO CRIME because the laws make it impossible for anyone to own a handgun...!!
ohh...... wait....
Nevermind.......
LOL
</sarcasm>
When people base their judgement on fear, lack of knowledge and emotion they will never learn.
Not so read carefully the article
They have lumped right to carry and permit to carry together
However right to open carry certainly would provoke more aggravated assault as stated
If u r a ferguson thug if u r quick you donkey punch them and can grab that glock and maybe an iPhone 6 at Starbucks in the same afternoon!
if you're a ferguson thug the city just gives you a gun along with your badge and uniform
They are so foreign to gun culture that they can’t even get their terminology correct. There is open carry, concealed carry and license to carry. I’v never heard of “right to carry”. There are shall issue states if that is what they mean. They probably haven’t touched a gun their lives.
Are you going to say the same about these people: NRA-ILA | Search
EDIT: that was literally the second google link, right under wikipedia, which also has the text "right to carry" in the preview.
defending themselves against: loud music at gas stations, line cutters in pizza parlors, seafood salesmen, cell phones in movie houses, estranged wives in hospital beds, and of course, teenagers in hoodies.
Just examples from only one state; not Chicago or any other major city there either.
