This is what drives me nuts. They were just being teenagers. How engaged were they supposed to look? EVERYONE has moments like that as a teenager. And frankly, the shots of them looking "bored" were stills - in the actual film clips, they don't look quite so zoned out.
In any case, we all made unthrilled faces as teens. Not all of us committed theft. And we're not talking shoplifting from the Walgreens either (which apparently quite a few of my peers did).
What the woman lambasting Sasha and Malia did as a teen? Um, no. Sorry. That's the kind of crap spoiled rich kids pull. I mean, when I was 17 it wouldn't even have occurred to me to WANT a Belk bag, let alone go into a store and STEAL one. The very idea would have disgusted me. The Obama girls get excoricated publicly online for not having a proper facial expression or meeting this woman's personal dress code, but the skeleton in her closet is THEFT? Oh no. Not acceptable at all.
This person stole something. Sasha and Malia just looked bored .
Indeed.
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around chiding them for the audacity to look bored at a... turkey pardoning... as being disrespectful of their "position," whereas she has no problem disrespecting the position of the President of the United States or even her own position in PR for an elected official. That she's actually a criminal as opposed to just looking bored is just too much.
As if those kids would ever have known what that aide posted had the media not made a big deal about it.
She's not the first person to learn that it's a good idea to review things before posting, and she won't be the last.
As usual, though, more stunning hypocrisy. The Obama kids were more likely to have seen coverage and comments about their dour demeanor on every news station than they were to have read an unknown political hack's post days later.
When Bristol started becoming a celebrity and doing the talk show rounds, then she had to face it, but I found the snide remarks questioning the parentage of the little one with Down syndrome utterly offensive.
Leave people's kids alone for cryin out loud.
Well that's good to know. It's just unfortunate the mainstream news media wasn't concerned enough about trashing the Palin children ( and I don't mean Bristol either, I agree with you about her becoming a public figure) to express the same indignation they did about the Obama girls.

When exactly did the MAINSTREAM media trash the Palin children? Or are you just digging up some random gossip site that pays to infest one's facebook feed or the link section at the bottom of legitimate news articles?
So Lauten wants these girls to be "classy"? Perhaps they, like Lauten, should have the fitness, hair and makeup of someone twenty years older than herself. Maybe they should endeavor, like Lauten, to spend six years getting a BA. And maybe they, like Lauten, should hop from one political hack job to another instead of becoming gainfully employed ten years after finally getting that BA.
It was only a matter of time before the "culture warriors" transferred their bile from Barack & Michelle onto their children.
