These were the words that I've been trying to remember for the LONGEST regarding these two (well, Sharpton mostly, I still sorta like "Messy" Jesse lol).
This is why Akai Gurley's family told him to stay the hell away from his funeral, because HIS presence would make it worse. There were REAL "community leaders" there though. The ones who've been in the struggle for years and aren't media vultures. The police and the city know that what happened to Gurley was an accident and will pay a settlement to the family. Sharpton would have made it a horrible, unnecessary circus.

They don't put everyone in jail for this. If he wasn't trying to "evade" and is willing to make payments, then they're not going to lock him up.
There are so many people that got caught up in these tax "write offs" by inept tax preparers and accountants who they believed knew what they were doing. The problem is the IRS and the states wait a few years before contacting the person that their previous returns were filed in 'error' and they actually OWE money.
I'm still wondering how Sharpton is still alive after revealing he was a government snitch. I have ZERO RESPECT for this man. NONE AT ALL.
