Electrical engineer tased at his housewarming party sues Madison County deputies | AL.com

This guy was tased because police came to his house (still don't know why) and he wouldn't let them in when they asked if they could enter. Then they said they wanted to make sure no underage drinkers were inside because they saw alcohol for the brief few seconds he opened the door to step out. What?

Suspected underage drinking but they didn't even check IDs. Shocking! Pun intended.

They have to justify their existence somehow. First the drug war, now house-warming parties. Don't they see they are the problem? In any case I hope this guy wins.

Thankfully the brave men in blue of Madison County took down this thuggish housewarmer!

And they had probably cause! I mean, c'mon... a bunch of adult professionals standing around drinking microbrews and martinis - doesn't that just scream under-age kegger?

I guess there's one electrical engineer who won't be so dang presumptuous next time he buys a house!

If parking were the issue (did the police ever really say?) a good Officer would have simply asked the homeowner to have his guests move their cars to a more appropriate area. How they got to tasing him is just mind-blowing.

Lol, waiting for the posters that are gonna claim this is some kind of anti police agenda, even though the details from both sides pretty much match up.

Also of note, this happened in Madison County (the place where they paralyzed the Indian guy that couldn't speak English). And before anyone says that's bs, my mother works at the hospital where they treated him. Huntsville police are out of control.

I think perhaps there is more to the story. I doubt they just magically showed up to start with.It is a fairly serious crimes to provide alcohol to minors at your house or elsewhere. There is no not go to jail zone on that.

There may or may not be. But the fact that the plaintiff was acquitted of criminal charges suggests that the police may be onto a loser here. Furthermore, there is not too much dispute of the facts between police accounts and the plaintiff's suit. This one will settle for a large sum to be paid by Madison County taxpayers, there will be no disciplinary action against the cops and the plaintiff will be on the Sheriff's 'leave well alone' list.

The article says the FBI is already investigating one of the officers involved based on another incident. So we'll see.
