Why did this kid feel the need to take a huge dose of caffeine a few days before graduation?
Who knows. I did eight shots of espresso once after having several cups of coffee already. Basically the same reason young adults feel the need to drink huge amounts of alcohol, I'd guess. I've still got a few friends who when I go out drinking with they're doing peer pressuring. There's a couple people I just don't associate with because they're so obnoxious to be around, most it's just some ball busting.

I don't know how familiar you are with teenage boys but a lot of what they do is to show off, be daring, impress people. That's what i'm thinking.

Did you do that because you wanted the caffeine, or liked the taste?

You can buy caffeine-laced candy in Japan. I love it. A couple of those by my bedside are great for waking me up on a morning when I don't want to get out of bed. But I love the minty flavor so much, that once I've had one I want more and more.

I also have caffeine pills, which I can take if I really need some energy. But I don't need them very often, so I've had the same box for years without running out.

Interestingly, the caffeine pills are easier to control then candy or tea, because the taste doesn't tempt me to take more than I need. I have taken too much caffeine through candy or tea, so that I got jittery, but have never taken too much with a flavorless caffeine supplement. I can't imagine anybody taking the amount that kid took without knowing that it was a huge dose.

I don't totally agree with that. Does anyone here know off the top of their heads how much caffeine is safe to take, taking into account caffeine tolerance, body size, metabolism, and any other drugs in your system that might enhance or counteract the effect of the caffeine? I sure don't!

I never saw a caffeinated product of any kind that came with a black-box warning on it. Kids especially assume that any mount of caffeine is safe.

This, take a spin around Youtube, I was watching one of my cousin's the other day and one of the morons he was watching mixed every energy drink together then added pure caffeine powder to a blender and drank it. This is up there with that Grant Thompson king of dumbasses launching butane powered rockets from his hand or putting gun powder in an electric skillet... It was all for the page views...

The box says how much powder to mix with how much liquid to make it 200mg per dose, it doesn't tell you to snort 23x that amount like a line of coke.
