It may be stupid, but is made to be followed. Your opinion doesn't matter and all schools in our country do not have the same rules. If there were no rules on what to wear, there are some girls who would wear shorts up to their waist. Of course that's not true, but you get the drift. Kids also need to learn the importance of following rules.
There are rules for this website and if a person doesn't want to follow those rules, out they go or else they leave on their own.
Exactly, which is what I think everytime something like this is reported in the news.
It's so utterly predictable. Grade school/high school student decides to do or wear something that's against school rules. School says no. Parents decide to take it to the media in the hopes of viral outrage and support against those 'evil' and 'tyrannical' school overlords. Public masses take it hook line and sinker and starts Facebook support page, to be followed by the gofundme account.
These rules aren't anything draconian or harsh, sheesh.
I think schools WAY overstep their bounds when they start dictating which hairstyles/haircuts are acceptable and which are not. As long as hair is clean, what does it matter what it looks like?
P.S. It is kind of funny to me, though, that when I was a teen around 1970, boys got into trouble in many schools for wearing their hair too long! How times have changed.

Of course there should be some rules we would not want kids coming in wearing almost nothing but what does having a certain hairstyle reallly hurt anything?

I remember in the late 50s a girl in my class having hers shaved as she had a dirty head.. it as awful for that wee girl. surely they could have used something else.. it was barbaric and whatever reason this school did this to a child should be a criminal offence..
Why would you shave a head because it was dirty? That makes no sense.
