We had a peaceful week and now we're back to the same ol' same ol'. Threads like these don't serve a purpose other than to bring out some of the most cowardice bigots on both sides.

Damn. It has been peaceful around here. I hate to see that end for more black people bad/white people good.
I'm glad they caught and charged 4 of them so far. This happened at 3:20 in the morning. Curious what they were all doing in the park at that time and wondering if there is more to this story than we are hearing?

It certainly is a legitimate question to ask what they were doing in the middle of the night in a park that had closed 4 hours earlier. I stated before and will repeat that I am glad they caught some of the thugs and hope they do catch all of them. The violent offenders should be locked away for a while for the benefit of the good people of Chicago, including the victims.

Because it is likely it wasn't a "friendly gathering". The blog (not a news source) writes it as if the black siblings were just wanting to share cookie recipes at 3 in the morning when they were attacked. Who were the instigators? Not sure. It will be interesting to hear both sides.

It's like clockwork.
The link in the OP directed to a very one sided blog. The attackers committed a crime with a deadly weapon and should be behind bars, but since we are only hearing one side so far, what were the other side doing? If this was a group that became aggressive towards each other and started fighting and it got out of hand, one side called for more backup, that's different than a group (in a park after hours) that was acting completely innocent and attacked from a pack of thug criminals. I don't know which it is, haven't heard enough facts yet. Sort of like when we heard about Mike Brown, the gentle giant, want to be astronaut who was brutally executed by the white cop. Once the facts came out, it was a far different story.
Reading it there is way to much of the story missing, not only what were they all doing in the park, but also how it went from the white groups in each others faces to both groups assaulting someone and their friends that were trying to be the peace maker.
I have been in enough brawls and seen plenty more to know that fights where people go from having a problem with each other and then assaulting a group together immediately does not happen anywhere but in the movies. People will just go around the peace makers and attach the people they are pissed off at.

Also, you notice that the blog neglects to state that it was 3am. It's pretty clear that they were up to no good at that hour. Also, it looks they were charged with attempted murder. I'm not sure how that will play out. I think that if a group of 30 people attacked 2 people with a knife and wanted to kill them then they would be dead.
Nothing good happens at urban parks between 3 and 4 in the morning.
Also, productive law abiding people generally do not hang out in parks at that time, regardless of their skin color.
I do. Many times I've spent time alone or with someone close to me in the park or on the beach in the wee hours. It's quiet, serene, and a nice setting to just think or talk about life.
