NJ is getting ready to ban smoking in cars with kids: N.J. lawmakers advance bill banning smoking in cars with kids | NJ.com
I think this is great and long over due. I would like to see them ban it in cars without kids too. People are always throwing theirs butts in the street. Also, if it's too dangerous for me to hold a cell phone to my ear and drive then it's too dangerous for a person to hold a cigarette in their hand and drive.
Im all for this ban on smoking in cars with kids inside cars, but your comparison to smoking and talking/driving while on a cell phone is quite odd to say the least.
It's about time. However, it should not just be a secondary offense because the smoke will always be hazardous, not just if the driver gets pulled over for another moving infraction. I support it because I have a son whose selfish father couldn't care less that his smoking is harming his son. And, I would be the first to say I will sign the ticket for you Officer. Unfortunately, laws don't discriminate and allow only for your own family and I am sure much of the support comes from those who have children where only one parent smokes or a caregiver smokes.
Anyone that smokes toxic crap like cigarettes in an enclosed area like inside a vehicle with children in it that are subjected to breathing in second hand smoke, needs to have their ability to be a parent questioned.

If they want to die from cancer in their own car it's up to them. I agree about not smoking with kids in car. That said, this Nanny State has gone to far. Total BULL***T
All of those who support the ban, be careful what you wish for. The nanny state knows no bounds, and they'll find and ban something that you enjoy.
Sage advice, which will obviously go ignored.
A depressingly high number of people seem to think using force against others for issues of little or no significance is a well and just function of government.
