Following the incident, court documents emerged showing Palmer was fined $3,000 and given a year's probation after pleading guilty over the illegal killing of a black bear in Wisconsin in 2006. please read a little
He was properly licensed and permitted to hunt black bear. Where he broke the law was that he killed that particular black bear in a non-sanctioned area. Meaning, had he killed the bear over "here" it would have been legal...but since he killed it over "there" it was illegal.
I agree 100% that the incident speaks to perhaps a certain pattern of behavior wherein getting his kill trumps all. However, he was not out "poaching" as many articles tried to imply.
In Zimbabwe they love it when people come spend money to thin out the lion population. Over there lions eat people. Where is the outcry about an animal killing or maiming a person? Why not use that energy to put a stop to the senseless killings happening here in the USA every day in the killing chambers that we call Planned Parenthood.
All the anti abortion rhetoric in the world cannot hide the fact that there are too many humans already, using up too few resources. This planet cannot sustain all of them, let alone those still to come if people don't start to see reason and limit pro-creation. The best way to do that is via birth control and abortion. If not, the current water and food shortages will only get worse and worse. It all comes down to quality of life for a sustainable number of people, or no quality of life for most.

So please eliminate yourself ...... think of the savings to Mother Earth.
Palmer's life isn't destroyed. He just likely won't be a dentist any longer. Public opinion does matter.
I doubt he'll ever go back to Africa, just will pay large amounts to lawyers to avoid that as well as paying a huge fine. And then move on with living, maybe not killing more animals though.
You call destroying his professional business and ending the employment of his staff and forcing him out of his home for fear of the lives of him and his family okay, but I don't think so. People's livelihoods and physical safety shouldn't be destroyed before he's even convicted of a crime.
Yea they are soo baffled that they are going to the effort of trying to get him extradited to Zimbabwe. Definitely sound baffled. And the Zimbabwean courts are already prosecuting his accomplices. Definitely sound baffled
As a wild guess - the journo has an agenda.... But when its as auspicious a paper as the "El Paso Times" its hard to know. Here's the Reuters link noting the extradition call and the court proceedings. I know, its just Reuters, and you quoted the El Paso Coupon Flyer or whatever it was, but humor me:
Emmanuel Fundira, president of the Safari Operators Association of Zimbabwe, said foreign tourists in Zimbabwe were forecast to spend about $5 million in the final quarter of 2015 — crucial revenue for this country.
“Many international tourists that were set to visit the country to see Cecil have canceled their trips,” Fundira said. “This killing is a huge loss to our tourism sector that was contributing immensely to the national wealth.
"Farai Gambiza, 45, a Harare resident, canceled his October trip to Hwange National Park with his wife and children. “We have no reason to go there anymore because Cecil is dead,” Gambiza said. “We want the government to make sure that they bring Palmer to Zimbabwe so that he faces justice."
Patricia Muchekesi, 47, a government councilor near Hwange, said Cecil was beloved among Zimbabweans. “Cecil was a rare breed of a lion,” she said. “Unlike other lions that we know to be dangerous, Cecil was very friendly."
Zimbabwe officials need to make lemonade out of this. There may be big tourist money to be made setting up trips to watch old Dr. Walt sweat it out in court. At least consider pay-per-view of the trial. The soundtrack music has already been written years ago:
"Hey, Bungalow Bill
What did you kill, Bungalow Bill?"
a person doesn't have to be convicted of a thing to be recognized as a sociopath....
