I like the part that said 'he was stunned that he wasn't allowed out on bail, and had a no-contact order to stay away from his mother'. That must have been a blow to his entitled mentality. Maybe the Mom will finally get a clue, and kick him out of the house.
Glad she & the cat are ok.

How can you miss someone at close range with a shotgun? So add "terrible shot" to his list of deficits.

Maybe she deserves sympathy, and maybe she's part of the problem. Without knowing the family dynamic, it's hard to say. On the face of it, he's 27 years old & doesn't like doing household chores, so it's easy to think her parenting skills were a bit lacking in the past.

Well, I don't imagine a shotgun is very accurate at all when used with bullets. I'd chalk that up to a clueless journalist though.

I'm trying to conjure up sympathy, really I am, but.....

She raised him. I would not be surprised in the least to find out out she was one of those mamas that lied for him as a child when he didn't do his homework or got in trouble at school, or blamed the school if he got poor grades.

Likewise.

I'm sure there's some mental issues but part of being a good parent is being a parent. If you're not equipped to handle someone with mental issues, particularly if they are violent, you're not doing them or yourself any favors. It's just enabling, same as happens with addicts.
