A 9-year-old Chicago boy who was fatally shot this week was "lured" from a park into an alley and executed because of his father's alleged gang connections, police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Thursday in a crime he described as among the most "unfathomable" of his 35 years in policing.
Tyshawn Lee, an elementary school student headed to his grandmother's house, was shot in the head and back Monday in a neighborhood alley on the city's South Side.
McCarthy told reporters Thursday that the slaying was the result of two gangs fighting, potentially in a string of retaliatory events dating back months. He said the boy's father isn't cooperating with police.
That's so sad, he was a cute little boy too. With parents like that, he was doomed. They should be jailed or at least not allowed to breed. This is all their fault.

So apparently there is an honor code, of a twisted sort, since the boy's father won't snitch even in a case involving the murder of his own 9 year old son.

As someone that has lived in and followed Chicago news for decades.....here is how this will unfold.
Gang related killings are 75% of the killings in Chicago.
Because the boy is very young and it has made national news the Chicago pols will make sure the police nail the suspect within 72 hours. They have informants, they know by now who did it.
The shooters own gang may even kill him for the heat they've drawn upon them. This has happened before.
Next, the politicians will blame guns and gangs....maybe hold a nice peace march.
Then next year, there will be another 350 gang related homicides. <shrug>
