It is sad but the public increasingly votes for candidates not based on the issues but talking points. But then again, what do you expect when 3/4 of the population is not educated.
While they might be trying to score points, the two major reason they are [officially] refusing the refugees is that if something happens to or because of a refugee while residing in their state then the blame falls completely on the government rather than on the state, and, by [officially] refusing them the states don't have to use their own state money, or other resources, on or for the refugees. The government would have to fully pay not only for the upkeep of the refugees but also reimburse the state for any resources that are lost by the state because of the refugees. The governors in the states that don't [officially] refuse the refugees are basically saying it's fine with them that the taxpayers in their states are left holding the bag.
There is no screening Syrians. There is no vetting Syrians. The government has no records or histories or paper trails or data trails to offer, share, or take. You are dealing with a backward society of unknown and unknowable quantities. No individual can be known or screened or vetted, except the ones who lead the regime into terror, who should be vetted using laser guided missiles.
Look how great the federal govt did with a US citizen that did have records, histories, paper trails, data trails, etc.
well, I am here in Brooklyn New York, most of you don't have to worry, they will all be here, trust me on this. all the refugees will come here. they will get food stamps, housing and medical.
we already have a small muslim community about 8 blocks away with a mosque, they will feel right at home. ugh !!!
of course NY will take them, why not, we take everyone else, and pay for everyone else.....

That's what I heard on the news just this morning, that it can take months to years to screen the Syrian refugees, and these are ones from prior years, not the recent refugees.

I read a recent story where a few immigrants ( a taxi driver) will get free rent on an apartment valued at $3,000/month for 3 years due to a landlord violation.
Thankfully, my state is not among the hater states.
Why is it a state is a hater state if they do not want refugees? Can you fathom that maybe someone disagrees with you but is not a hater.
