As long as they ban every other religious holiday, sure.

I thought maybe there was a significant portion of Jewish or Muslim students, but the article says 95% of the students are Hispanic or Asian. (OK yes I know you can technically be both but their numbers are tiny.) Anyway, this principal sounds like she wants a soulless, aseptic school, and the banning of holidays is just one part of that. From the article:

Quote:
She moved hundreds of books and loads of supplies into the gym, where parents and other community members took what they wanted. The rest was tossed in the trash.

She also dumped boxes of newly purchased reading books in the basement because she preferred another curriculum, staffers said.

Kim bought seven 70- to 80-inch Sharp flat-screen smart TVs, which retail at about $3,000 each. After painting over and removing historic murals, she had the TVs mounted in the auditorium — three over the stage and two on each side.
Oh and somebody should've told her that Halloween is more of a "harvest festival" than Thanksgiving. Hay rides, scarecrows and pumpkin picking vs. chilly late November temperatures!

In my state, the name they use is "Good Friday."

Maryland Holidays - Public School Holidays
Officially? Im surprised. Even in my conservative bible belt neck of the woods the state is changing official names of religious holiday activities. Individuals schools not so much unofficialy. We still get by with saying Christmas and Halloween and Easter, so far untill someone complains.
We still even slip in the pledge, star spangled banner and a prayer at school events.

Agreed. Or it would be nice if schools could incorporate other religious holidays of students of other cultures.

So they banned the displays of Santa, elves and Christmas trees?

That's more like anti-Pagan than anti-Christian.

The Asst Principal said Santa was a religious icon.

Are you waiting for the Catholic Church to tell you its corrupt history ?

Go read up. You are missing so much history about the Roman Catholic Church.

Constantine and changing the sabbath day.
"Donation of Constantine" forgery done by the Church.
Land grabbing by the church.
Buying and selling of Church influence by the wealthy.

The list goes on and on.

This is the stuff they don't teach you in Catholic school nor Sunday school.

Something to ponder....

How much do you know about the history of the Catholic Church post Jesus' death ?
Do not forget the Catholic Church helping the Nazis get out of Germany and onto to other places....
