It sounded BIGGGGG.
However,
$930mil / 3 = $310mil each - 40% taxes = $122 mil cash.
Actually worse than many of previous winners.

I'm pretty sure the 930 mil was after taxes already for one winner.

That was the cash value on the 1.5 billion jackpot. It went a little higher, so the cash value was probably raised too, but I haven't seen exactly what it turned out to be. The cash value is what the lottery would have to invest to pay out 1.5 million over 30 years if the winner opts for the annuity.

If you opt for cash, you still owe taxes on that lower amount.

Nah, if 1 winner got it it would be 930M - %40 tax = ~558M or so.

Glad it was 3 winners.

I got 15 tickets between 3 friends....matched only like 4 numbers on 4 separate lines....oh well was fun to day dream and shopping cars/homes online while it lasted....

The final tally was $1.5864 billion with a cash value of $983.5 million.

I wonder if we'll see another that large this year?

Could be very possible. The odds are so small now that with 11months to go in the year and with 2 drawings each week...it can eclipse this.

This is EXACTLY what the powerball staff wanted....massive jackpots. I think we will see at least another jackpot hit billion before this year is over

Ye, me too! I was sure would be above 90% with some 450m tickets sold and $3B wasted on this silly game. But did create 76 new millionaires.

I mostly play for $2m w/PP and hope for x10 instead of jp anyway.
