Two members of the Canadian armed forces were stabbed Monday at a military recruiting center in Toronto, and witnesses said the attacker was shouting jihad slogans.

The Toronto Sun, citing “several police sources,” said witnesses heard words from the attacker that strongly implied he was a Muslim acting from religious motives.

“Some heard him say, ‘Praise Allah’ and others heard ‘Allah’ or ‘Aly,’” a police source told the Sun. “Several heard the man use this terminology.”

A police source also told the Sun that “he appears to be of Middle Eastern decent and was presenting himself as if he is Muslim, but … all of that needs to be confirmed.”

Sad day for Canada. Sad for us good people.

I hate to say this as someone that has a lot of family and friends in Canada, including Canadian Armed Forces

this will get worse under the current administration and their plans for the future

read up like I have on the legacy Trudeau Sr. left behind.

"Two (unarmed) members of the Canadian armed forces "

A masked man ran screaming into a coffee shop near Seattle and attacked the cashier with a hatchet. A customer drew his pistol, shot the hatchet guy and went back to drinking his coffee. The hatchet guy is deceased. The cashier thanked the customer for saving his life. The police said the customer saved several lives.

That's the difference between the US and Canada.

If this happened in the US, the media would have not reported his "Allah" comments, withheld the "Middle Eastern Descent" comment, and made it seem as though it was a random act of violence totally unrelated to terrorism.

Lets be clear about a few things.

This 27 year old man was born in Montreal. He is a Canadian citizen by birth.

The building where this took place is about 15 floors, all of which are Federal Government offices. The Canadian Forces recruiting centre is on the main floor, near the front entrance to the building.

NONE of the CF members who work there are armed, why would they be ?

This man obviously has mental problems. So far, there are NO indications that he is a member of any organisation or a follower of any religious leader.

He has appeared in bail court, and he was denied bail, based upon statements by the Crown Attorney. He has been charged with....one count of attempted murder, and five counts of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon. The three CF members who were cut , were treated at hospital, and released. They are all expected to make a full recovery, from their wounds.

The accused entered the recruiting office at about 3 pm, and immediately attacked the CF member who was manning the front desk. He was armed with a large knife. The member called out for help, and about 7 or 8 other CF members came to his aid. The attacker was disarmed, restrained and held for Police arrival. Statements from CF members, to TPS, said that the attacker made utterances about " Allah told me to kill people ". or "Allah wanted me to kill you ".

The Toronto Police Service, the Canadian Forces military Police, the RCMP and CISIS are all investigating the attacker, and his background. According to Chief Mark Saunders, of the TPS, the accused has NO pervious criminal record, and "was not known to Police " which meads that he has never been charged, or even arrested, before this date. He lives in the west end of Toronto, with his Mother, and adult sister.

Neighbours said that the attacker was a quiet and reclusive man, who was rarely seen in the area.

Those are the facts, as they are known at this time.

Now for my own opinion. This a mentally disturbed man, who acted on his own. His choice of where and who he attacked was based on some form of acting out his rage. It could just as easily have been a coffee shop, or on a TTC bus. Once he was dis-armed, and restrained , he calmed down, and was compliant with Police orders. This is typical of those who have strong ideation about attacking others. Once they are under physical control, they go passive.

Turns out the guy was of Somali heritage born in Canada. Not particularly religious. Had been suffering from symptoms resembling paranoid schizophrenia for months. Had been talking to acquaintances on how the "illuminati" were oppressing the poor. They said he didn't seem to be a jihadi trying to overthrow the Canadian government. Also had a mother he moved back in with when she started suffering similar mental illness and couldn't cope. Sounds like pure crazy, not a ISIS conspiracy to me.

That's the difference between the US and Canada.
It's a difference that is embraced by Canada:

Woman lets 4 year old shoot gun, accidentally gets shot by him

2 year old gets loaded gun out of car, kills himself.

Parents shot by their toddler

2 yr old shoots mom dead with mom's handgun

Further facts that have come to light as of today.

The man has a adult sister, who graduated from Oxford University, who is a eye Doctor in London.

This man attended Calgary University for three years, in a Professional Engineering program.

So much for the idea that this family are poor peasants .

In 2001, the man's Mother began to exhibit signs of mental illness. In 2003, the Father left the family.

While attending University in Calgary, Alberta, this man lived with his Aunt, who described him as becoming more and more delusional, and paranoid. He was not a regular attendee at the local mosque in Calgary.

After three years in that engineering course in Calgary, he quit and moved back to Toronto, to live with his Mother.

To me, this sounds like a man who has had, and who continues to have...... a serious mental illness.
