IMHO, the real problem for all these countries that are hitting the panic mode because of declining population and the associated "problems" is two fold. One is their terribly high budget deficits. A shrinking population is going to have a harder problem handing the debt. So they put a bandaid on it, massive immigration, hoping that these new citizens will fix their problem, which it will not. It will only make it worse.
What they don't want to face is govt. budget cuts to balance their budgets and the people don't want tax increases or cuts in social spending. Britain will continue to have problems, but at least they can now plan their own way to treat their problem, rather than having uncaring bureaucrats from other countries make their decisions for them.
There is tons of hand wringing on the internet over these declining birth rates, but the main concern is for the big money people. IMHO, a decline in population is a good thing. The world is overcrowded as it is.
Maybe someone else can do the research but England has allowed so many Pakistanis and Bangladesh into the country that there shouldn't be a population deficit. These people have very large families so it seems that there are enough younger people to fill the jobs. So many, in fact, that it can be hard for a native Brit to get a job. Their government finally closed the door on all the free immigration and then the EU wanted to force them to take millions more. The place is already too crowded and has a serious housing shortage.
If those other countries really want all these immigrants, fine. But England already HAS millions of fairly recent immigrants and they are saying their island will sink into the sea if they take any more!

"More British citizens leave the country than arrive. EU net migration is currently 184,000 compared to 188,000 from outside the EU."
It's the same as it was in March of this year. It's considerably higher than it was in February. And it's WAY higher than it was for most of 2015, and all of 2014, 2013, and 2012.
I am not too concerned about the markets or more importantly central bank liquidity.
All central banks are working in coordination right now this was a planned possibility and they will simply print more $$$, buy bonds/T bills and shore up any liquidity runs.
The only concern some folks should have regarding the markets is if they are heavily invested in risk investments and are close to retirement/need their money immediately.
Brexit is a temporary spasm, fueled in no small part by resentments of the elitism practiced by certain high-visibility factions within the European Community and their American sycophants -- the same people who turned the serious issue of climate change into the "global warming" scare, and awarded a Nobel Peace Prize to the "feel good" clown currently occupying the White House.
Over the seventy years since its inception. the EEC restored and nurtured a prosperity that both put an end to the rivalries that stoked the first two World Wars and prevented a third by its role in an economic boom that the Soviet Bloc could never hope to match. The troubles began when it promised too much, too soon, to nations only recently able to assume a role in a global economy. When market forces tarnished the rosy promises, the "usual suspects" over there in Leftist Academia "waved the bloody shirt", and found enough support among those hurt (over the short run), and the diminishing legatees of the likes of Atlee and Wilson to derail further progress -- for the time being.
A rising tide lifts all boats, but when one is already close to the top, the gains aren't as easily recognized; the same rules apply to the call for a return to some forms of protectionism by the Trumpsters. But as in Europe, this error in judgement with regard to economics was made possible only by the arrogance and self-righteousness of The "Social Justice Warriors" and the would-be Fascists under the banner of Political Correctness. We face a choice between the lesser of several evils -- on both sides of the Atlantic.

I will never be into mass immigration, and im a mixed race child of migrants,I believe so much in and value so much the innate characteristics of different ethnic groups that I abhor seeing it all subsumed in multiculturalism. Not to mention anyone in their right mind thinking a pakistinis cultural habits and beliefs are in any way compatible with English cultural habits and beliefs as they have existed for thousands of years.
Well, given how other countries are now contemplating an exit from the EU, why would they leave the UK to join a sinking ship? Think about it for a moment. Britain would be Scotland's largest trading partner.
It's becoming more apparent by the day that the EU is a terrible, unworkable experiment hatched by technocrats who somehow thought they could unite a couple of dozen economies, languages, histories, and cultures together with regulations.
Why, suddenly, vote for barriers to trade out of spite? Are Scots and Welsh really ready to suddenly deal with border controls and a whole range of other headaches in order to preserve their ties to an abstraction?
Scotland voted overwhelmingly in favor of staying with the EU. The only ones suffering will be the Brits.
