If you are familiar with misurp rifles you would certainly know that mausers were developed way before even the thought of the Nazi party existed. It's basically the foundation of the bolt action rifle when developed in the 1870s and every country seems to have a variant - Spanish Mausers, Swedish Mausers, South American Mausers. Springfield 1903's are basically mausers with a change here and there.
I assume you are talking about the German WW2 variant K98. You can get them in the surplus market for less than $500, as most are Russian refurbished captures. Some may still have the German Eagle and very small Nazi swastika although most you see now are faked. This brings up another fact that I mentioned in the history forum - Nazi memorabilia is very popular, and very expensive, but much of it is faked. There is no evil associated with an inanimate object, on the contrary perhaps you can use it as a warning and reminder to you of the evil that come from these movements and perhaps as a "war trophy" of sorts over the destruction of these movements.
