I had never heard of a salt poisoning death, besides the science fiction series Alien Nation for that alien species. I would guess it would fall under Felony Murder even if there was no proof of her finding out that salt is lethal from some source.
The only thing I know you can kill with salt is slugs...pour it on them and they croak. I had no idea a child could die from salt....but who knows what she really fed the kid. She sounds nuts!

Too much sodium in the blood can cause death, especially in little ones, by bleeding in the brain.
This is terrible, but it happened almost a year ago...why is it all of a sudden a news story being written up. Nothing new has happened, it sounds like
If you read the information in the provided link, you will know that the baby went into a sort of coma just after the salt was given her. Now, nearly a year later, the baby has died. That's the "something new." And the fact that charges have now been placed against that pitiful substitute for a loving mother.
I cannot fathom why were are seeing more parents killing their children. It hurts my heart to hear this. many of us mothers/dads would put ourselves in danger to save our kids without a thought to our safety. It's instinctual. People like this woman clearly have some sort of mental issue. To harm a beautiful baby is beyond my comprehension. This woman didn't bond with her child. I wonder what her parental bonding, or lack of it was like? I'm sure a forensic psychiatrist or psychologist could get to the bottom of her issue. I imagine the prosecution has already gone this route.

The baby died in August 2016. There is no explanation why that site republished the information from last year without any indication it was that old, and without any updates. I googled and there hasn't been anything online since August 2016 about the case.
