The authorities are itching to put a stop the game by having the author reveal where the treasure is hidden.

Being the libertarian that I am.....I say let the game continue. It's something interesting in a boring, work filled world. Let people take responsibility for themselves. We don't need the heavy hand of government stepping in to every situation.

Same. Should the government ban SCUBA diving because people like to look at coral reefs and can die doing it?

I think they need to publicize the last paragraph of the article - the 80 year old man who hid the treasure drove to the spot and then walked there from where he parked his car.

You don't need to risk your safety to get there, at all. Sad that those who died trying didn't know that, apparently.

It's a game. I am sorry I would not go all in unless I believed there was a worthwhile treasure.

Let the game continue.

At least they're not out killing innocent people, as in texting whilst driving, etc.

It's no more dangerous than driving to the grocery store. Let the games continue.

If the relevant authorities are going to let the games continue, then they need to tell participants that if they get into trouble, search and rescue teams won't be sent out and have their safety put at risk over someone else's desire to play a game, and that taxpayers won't be sent any bills.

Clearly all these treasure hunters need a Colorado Search and Rescue Card.

"Colorado residents and visitors are well served by dedicated volunteer search and rescue teams. By purchasing a Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue (CORSAR) card you are contributing to the Search and Rescue Fund, which will reimburse these teams for costs incurred in search and rescues across the State of Colorado. The CORSAR card is available for $3 for a one-year card and $12 for five-year card."

Buy your card here!
https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/dola/node/98966

Get the 5 yr card. It will give you more time to search for the treasure. Even if you aren't coming to search, buy one for the cool factor, to show all your friends and family.
