I was on a cross-country flight one time, and just after we took off, the young woman next to me (who was a stranger to me) fell asleep and slumped over against my shoulder. (I am a middle-aged man, FWIW.) I was reading a book, so I decided to just keep on reading and keep perfectly still, because I was curious to see how long it would take her to notice that she was sleeping on a stranger. Well, a couple of hours passed before she woke up, looked at me with a look of total confusion, then fell asleep again. Not a word said. Honestly, I thought the whole thing was pretty funny.

Granted, I don't think that's what happened in the cited situation. But the comment that I quoted reminded me of it.

I am rarely on the airline's side...but this one I kind of understand.

When I have worked for businesses, I had to contact higher ups before making a major call like getting the police there. I feel like this is one of those times I might have waited to call the police for instructions from my bosses.
Yes, I completely understand. In non emergency situations you usually have to go through the proper channels. It isn't like the FA could call 911 on her cell phone. They have specific steps they must go through.
