Anyone who wants an extra hour of daylight should just get up an hour earlier.

I vote to abolish it. I like to wake up with sunshine in my eyes. As soon as they implement DST it's dark in the morning again for another month. Hate it.

I'm sick of this irritating anachronism.

What about you?
I'd love to see the debate of which time standard will be sticking. Will it be the hour forward or hour back?

That doesn't help if you want to do something in daylight at a place that isn't open at that early hour. It's not just about another hour in the day, it's about having it placed in the evening when more places are open. Also, why have 2 hours of light in the evening after work when you can have 3 instead? It's easier to see for driving, and generally safer too.

The people that complain the most are usually the type that tends to stay inside and away from people. But they are in the minority, and will never affect change to DST.

Moving the clock around in an attempt to situate hours of daylight more perfectly is such a silly endeavor, anyway. "But we get an extra hour of daylight in the evening!" No matter how you slice it, if you live in northern latitudes winter days are short and summer days are long. It's going to be much lighter on summer evenings whether you change the time or not.

The people that complain the most usually are the type that stay inside and hide from people and the world anyway. Go and lower the blinds and bask in all the darkness and misery you want.

If we ended DST, we'd have far more bytching and griping, from them above and many more added.
And the spins begins!

Daylight savings time serves no useful purpose. Farmers get up and are ready for a day’s work before the sun comes up and there isn’t any energy savings.

???? Uh, did you even read the OP?

We already have time differences by state. They're called TIME ZONES.
.. and in FL, it varies WITHIN the state!

This conversation is about setting clocks back and forth twice a year, in the same place.

I'm all for abolishing the re-setting of clocks, but I vote for leaving us on DST year round and eliminating standard time. I hate having it get dark before 4 pm, and that extra hour of daylight in the morning is useless. It's not like I can call my bank or run errands at 7 am.

They want DST year round, which means in places like SWFL it will be after 8AM in the winter before daylight.
Just stay on standard time year round
