Did they have to say she was known for her fake pearls?
Why not?
It was part of her no-nonsense demeanor. With the Bush family money should could have easily had a strand of real pearls. But a $95 strand that looked identical to anyone who wasn't closely examining them suited her just fine.
I also agree with her decision. She’s lived a long, great life and her time on earth is about up. Not much to say about that, except that every one of us will face the same dilemma should we live so long.
From the local articles I've read it seems she is in what would generally be considered "Hospice Care" at home. God bless you Mrs. Bush. Wishing her comfort.
Did they have to say she was known for her fake pearls?
I know. I mean who cares? I think they were trying to point out that she was not showy or a clothes horse, as Mrs. Bush could have afforded any pearls she wanted, and I am sure that her husband would have been happy to indulge her. She just was not that type.
This actually isn't comparable to "refusing treatment" for conditions that might theoretically be cured or at least managed with treatment; with congestive heart failure, it's steadily progressive, and there's ultimately NO treatment that works short of a heart transplant, and I'm sure she's not a candidate for that at her age.
I can understand how she feels...She has always been a respected woman of great dignity.
A well respected First lady. My Prayers and heart go out to her family at this time.
Wishing them nothing but joy and happiness for the time left.
