Wouldn't bother me if I had a woman pilot, might even prefer one. If the plane had crashed, they would of made a huge deal about a woman being the pilot.

Shouldn't they ground each plane with the same kind of engine(s) until after inspection? They're just going to continue to fly some suspect engines for almost three weeks?

Or am I mistaken, and they are being grounded?

This accident reminds me of the Sioux City crash in '89. The #2 engine exploded and took out all the hydraulic control systems and their back-ups. The aircraft was only able to crudely controlled by different power settings on the two remaining engines. It eventually crash-landed at the Sioux City airport. More people actually survived the crash than were killed... including the pilots. Were they heroes? IDK.. maybe. They certainly were exceptionally skilled pilots that kept their heads and did the best they could.

It was later found that there were microscopic flaws in the metal of the engines fan blades that went undiscovered during the manufacturing & inspection process. IIRC they changed the inspection requirements for those parts after that happened.

Huh??? You don't pay anything extra for bags on S.W unlike other airlines and you can pick your own seat! Maybe you're getting confused with Spirit airlines?

Also, like I said earlier, SW is usually oon time, unlike American who is NEVER on time!!

No she was not belted and yes that was confirmed.

But in many cases if you want to avoid a middle seat, you have to buy early bird check-in now. (I use Southwest when it makes sense for my travel plans; I don't get the cult that surrounds it)

https://www.transtats.bts.gov/OT_Del...elayCause1.asp

Airline on time numbers- January 2018

Alaska- 88.88%
Hawaiian- 88.34%
United- 84.65%
Delta- 84.29%
Spirit- 82.91%
American- 82.47%
Southwest- 81.83%
American Eagle- 74.69%
ExpressJet (dba United Express, Delta Connection, etc) 74.56%

Granted, a lot varies based on where you are in a route network- some airports are just more delay-prone, and there are some routes that airline prioritize higher than others. Do have to admit I'm surprised to see Spirit seeming like it's getting its act together- they've had a bad reputation for delays and cancellations in the past.

We fly SW frequently. Fares are a bit cheaper, for one thing. We are fans of Alaska and Royal Hawaiian. I personally do not like United.
