What I don't get is why it's just a misdemeanor. This **** should be a felony. But god forbid women are forced to take responsibility for ****. Then again, when we live in a society where women can do the worst things and people go out of their way to defend them it's always excuses like postpartum depression or some ****. Whereas it doesn't matter what the circumstances were to make a man say kill his kids he just should be lynched regardless.
Meanwhile a false accusation lasts a whole lot longer than 1 year for the accused. Sometimes even after the name is cleared and the accuser is discredited.

This is why it would seem she should have a heavier sentence.
She ruined the lives of 2 young men and only gets 1 year in jail? Tere is a serious flaw in the justice system when a person gets a slap on the wrist sentence when they do commit a sex crime. However, I think there is an even bigger flaw when this happens to a false accuser.
Sounds fair to me - men rarely get 5 years for rape.
Fact is that false accusations are very uncommon but the perception seems to be that half are so you'd better let the guy off lightly since it's SO lightly he's innocent anyway.
I've actually heard that the longer the minimum sentence is for rape the less likely to get a conviction. I think the sex offender registry has caused many juries to acquit because they don't think the lifelong registry is fair.

Don't get me wrong, something like 5 years for rape is ridiculous. If it were me any rapist would be thrown into a pit with starving pit bulls, but at the same time it's not as if women should get off lightly either, two wrongs don't make a right.
Whatever it takes to end this breach of justice need to happen now. Perhaps there needs to be a Supreme Court case that makes it explicitly clear than men don't get years of hard time and then women get sent off to therapy and Camp Cupcake for the same crime and judges don't get to keep doing what they've been doing. Or lighten the sentencing for men and toughen it for women to make it consistent for both genders. But something needs to happen because we can't keep incarcerating our men and having them die younger. It's unacceptable, it's unethical, and it's inexcusable.

Yes, thats what really needs to be addressed...why the public is always so quick to label them guilty, usually right after someone from law enforcement makes an allegation against someone for a sex crime, I will see in the comments, 9 out of 10 people already consider the guy guilty and saying things like he should suffer some terrible execution for what he did.
Why are people so trusting of law enforcement today, that they would jump from allegation to guilty right away?!!!
