Terrifying moment school bus with student, 12, on board is swept away in floodwaters as bus driver is arrested for ignoring warning sign
A school bus driver in Texas has been arrested after ignoring a road closure sign and driving into flood waters with a student on board.
Nathan DeYoung, 57, is charged with endangering a child and not obeying warning signs after he lost control of his school bus on the morning of October 16.
Terrifying dash cam footage released Friday shows the bus tipping in the rushing waters as the windshield wipers thrash vigorously.
DeYoung and the 12-year-old student on board were forced to be rescued by emergency responders.
The boys mother Ashley Ringstaff wrote on Facebook that she got a call from her son 'in hysterics' just before 8.30am.
'[He was] telling me he loves me and that he is scared and thinking he was going to die,' she wrote.

I'm a bit on the fence on that one.
This is a local story for me.
You get arrested here, for driving around flood barriers, whether anyone has to come rescue you or not, and police warn people ahead of a major flooding event that they will do just that.
This was way worse than the average person testing the limits of their vehicle, IMHO.
The mother of the boy on the bus is now questioning whether this was a suicide attempt.

I see.
I'll admit, I did not read through the whole thing. Thought it was just an idiot driver using poor judgement that could have turned catastrophic.
Knowing there was at least one child on the bus, why?!
