If a teacher shows interest in a student then the student has more leverage over the teacher than they would have otherwise.
rubbish. rubbish.
I couldn't report my sexual attack and numerous love letters from my teachers because who would believe me...a young girl, student...when those men were esteemed, revered teachers?
I don't approve nor disapprove of anyone dating per se. I leave that up to the people of consensual age involved. Whether they are age 16, 25 or 60 for their purposes of consent they are adults, and whether they are student/teacher none of that in itself makes much difference to me.
In the grand scheme of things... if people are doing what they are supposed to be doing and it doesn't affect me, I don't care what they are doing. If they are flaunting it or harming someone, then I'm going to have an opinion. Honestly, I wouldn't want to be a student in the class with the professor having a fling with a student. It''s unprofessional and not what I paid for.

Well that was then and this is now. Do we really need all the laws to handle various matters? Policies and customs can change without creating new laws and regulations.

But that's the heart of the issue really. WERE the boys able to GIVE consent, when the teacher has so much authority over the students? The state of Alabama says "no".
I would think that a 17 or 18 year old male wouldn't want to have much to do with a 47 year old woman, other than to cook him something and hand over the keys to her car.
When I was 17/18, I would have quickly jumped at the chance to get involved with a number of 47+ year old women that I knew.

The male students didn't hook up with her because they were concerned about her authority. That's an absurd theory in my view. I don't care what the law says, I'm disagreeing with the newfangled sex offense laws as liberal hogwash.
what if the teacher was male, and the students female, 17 & 18? Would you STILL defend it? I doubt it. I highly doubt anyone here would be ok with it if the students were female. Not a fan of double standards
It makes no difference the sex of the teacher and student only the age of consent and the circumstances. I'm not defending it, I'm wanting it decriminalized.

Do you support Jeff Epstein's activities? He's the most famous teacher.

I don't support anyone. I think what Epstein was doing was different and more extreme, prostitution and girls under the age of consent etc,, from this case and occurring years after he left school teaching.
