Man attacks ex girlfriend shoots at police and sets her apartment on fire

He barricaded himself for several hours in her apartment shooting at the police. He threw furniture and other objects out of the windows that he broke out. He shot up a car. Then he set fire to the apartment. Because of the wind and the fire hydrant being broken, the fire spread while they waited for water trucks to be brought in.

Five families are homeless.

Residents in the same building were evacuated while the other residents in the apartments were locked down to their apartments.

The man faces multiple felony charges.

One of the families went to their apartment to get anything that could be salvaged. The apartment is ruined. It's next to the one where the fire started. They opened the door and their cat had survived the fire somehow and was glad to see them. They were hugging all over that cat.

A building was destroyed less than three years ago because of the fire hydrants not working. They still were not repaired at the time of this recent fire.
